生長/分化因子 8 (GDF8)，又稱肌生長抑制素，可負(fù)向調(diào)節(jié)肌肉質(zhì)量。GDF8 通過與其 N 端前結(jié)構(gòu)域相互作用而處于潛伏狀態(tài)。與眾多 TGF-β 家族成員一樣，GDF8 是一種二硫鍵連接二聚體，合成為前體蛋白，需要通過弗林樣蛋白酶裂解才能產(chǎn)生 N 端前結(jié)構(gòu)域和 C 端成熟的信號傳導(dǎo)結(jié)構(gòu)域。
