BCL2L1是BCL-2蛋白家族的成員。BCL2L1表達為Bcl-X(L)、Bcl-X(s)和Bcl-X(beta)三種亞型，位于線粒體外膜。Bcl-XL亞型是一種233個氨基酸的蛋白質，具有凋亡抑制劑的作用。Bcl-XL可以與BAX、BAK或BCL2形成異二聚體，而與BAX的異二聚體似乎并不需要抗凋亡活性。Bcl-XS亞型是一種較短的變體，長度為178個氨基酸，缺乏63個氨基酸區(qū)(126-188個氨基酸)，可作為一種凋亡激活劑。
